Spanish Town Grants Citizenship to Cats and Dogs

Recently, cats and dogs in a Spanish town called Trigueros del Valle has grants human rights that are equal to humans. They have also been defined as non-human residents. Besides, bullfight that has gained much popularity in Spain is forbidden in this small town.

Pedro Pérez Espinosa, the Socialist mayor of this town said that cats and dogs have been living with us for more than 1000 years. And the mayor must represent not just the human residents but must also be here for the others.

This small town that has only 330 human residents clearly declares that both cats and dogs are non-human residents, which means they have the same rights as humans do. Any misconduct that causes the injury or death of non-human residents are strictly forbidden.

This new law has 13 clauses including all residents are born to equal and have the same rights. No matter they are humans or non-human, they deserve others’ respect. The town’s council has unanimously passed the bill.
