We can show our love to our dogs thorough giving them better and new dog supplies and food, play with them, etc. We know how much we love our dogs. However, do you know how your dog shows you her/his love?
Recently, I read a report which said that scientists have begun to explore more deeply the question of which emotions animals feel and how they display them. It is amazing to know more about our honest friend – dogs. And here are some of the ways, through body language, brain response and the choices they make, that I think our dogs show us their love.
1. Your dog is willing to make eye contact with you. In the world of dogs, making eye contact can be an aggressive act. Polite dogs, who just want to get along, would like to avoid the long and hard stare that can intimidate or challenge other dogs. Hence, dogs don’t stare at people that way either, but they accept our looks of love and will even seek out eye contact from us. Hence, when your dog is happy and comfortable with you, he will give you that special gaze that says, ‘All is right with the world.’ To build a closer relationship with your dog, you can also teach him to look at you for guidance.
2. Your dog will react happily to the sound of your voice. Don’t you love it when you come home and call your dog, he will comes bounding joyfully to you? It is even more special when he leaves a fascinating scent or favorite pet feeding toy to come and greet you. I think it is one of the best feelings in the world, even if sometimes it is just cupboard love.
3. Your dog knows your scent. Do you know that your scent triggers activity in the reward center of your dog’s brain? The area known as the caudate nucleus is rich in dopamine receptors, and in humans, it lights up when we anticipate pleasurable experiences, such as eating Mom’s fried chicken or reuniting with someone we love.
Dogs love us as we love them, and I believe there are many other ways your doggie shows his/her love to you. If you have interesting story between you and your dog, you can share with us.
