As far as I concern, Sphynx cat is an exceptional feline breed I have never seen before. Maybe you will surprise when you know this cat at the first time, and maybe you think this kind of cat is a little bit scare because Sphynx is not much cute as other feline breed. The biggest feature of Sphynx is that he/she lack of coat (fur), though he/she is not truly hairless.

Although hairless cats have been reported throughout history, breeders in Europe have been working on the Sphynx breed since the early 1960s. Wedge-shaped heads with prominent cheekbones, large lemon-shaped eyes and large ears that like the ears of a bat, Sphynx cat can grow to a medium- or large-sized feline. Besides, Sphynx has well-muscled, powerful neck of medium length and thick paw pads. Though many people would like to pet Sphynx, this cat needs more special care than other feline breeds.

Since you may think Sphynx cats have no need to groom as they have little hair, but you are wrong. Grooming is the most important part to Sphynx so you must prepare special pet grooming supplies for Sphynx. For a regular cat, body oils are absorbed by the fur, but the Sphynx, clearly lacking in that attribute, does not have a natural way of keeping the oil on the skin in balance which can lead to skin problems if the cat is not groomed and to oil spots on the furniture. Hence, regular bathing routine at least once a week is necessary. Another consideration for the skin, which may seem obvious, is that Sphynx cat must be safe-guarded from the sun. A small amount of sun will intensify the natural colors of the cat’s skin, but too much will burn the cat, just as it does human skin, besides, cold weather can easily make hairless cat get cold, prepare some cat clothing and cat stuff like pet umbrella, hat, etc. are necessary for sunny day and cold weather.

In addition, nail clipping is important to every cat especially hairless cat, better to trim the nails once a week and Sphynxes do not like to being left alone, they are high energy and friendly. If you left your Sphynx at home for long periods of time, your cat’s heart is going to break. Unless you have a companion for your Sphynx, or give him/her some toys to play.
